Daren Newell Dixon, 20, of Selma, Indiana, was last seen on July 4, 1993, while working his second summer season as a busboy at Roosevelt Lodge in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Dixon, a student at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, had quit his job on July 2 without giving a reason and was seen by friends in Cooke City, Montana, in the days that followed. He was not seen again after July 4. His car was later found parked at the Lamar River Canyon pullout inside the park, with his wallet and other personal belongings still inside; his fishing gear, which he was known to carry, was missing from the vehicle. He was last known to be wearing a ball cap, a white long-sleeved sweatshirt, blue jeans, and hiking boots.
The case is investigated jointly by the Yellowstone National Park Service and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. Investigators have suggested that Dixon, an avid fisherman, may have drowned, though no remains or further evidence were recovered despite a search that continued through the remainder of the summer of 1993. The case does not currently appear in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) and remains unsolved.
