Missing or Unidentified Person

Skeletal remains of an unidentified White male was discovered in Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia, on August 20, 2012, by construction workers at approximately 11:15 a.m. in a wooded area near the northbound lanes of Interstate 395 at Route 236 (Duke Street). No form of identification was found on or near the remains. The Medical Examiner estimated the decedent to be between 50 to 69 years old, standing approximately 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with gray or partially gray hair. Postmortem Interval is estimated to be 10 months to several years prior to discovery and the cause and manner of death was not released. Clothing and personal items recovered from the scene included Mossimo boxer shorts (size L, 36/33), two socks, Levi Strauss denim jeans (34x34), a brown leather woven belt measuring 46 inches with a single clasp, a Brandini sweater (size M), a B. Moss sweater (size L), a “University of Amsterdam” short-sleeve T-shirt (size XXL), a dark blue GAP sweatshirt (size XL), a dark blue Culture Studio sweatshirt (size L), New Balance sneakers measuring approximately 13 inches in length, and a Lifetouch comb recovered from a jeans pocket.
