Missing or Unidentified Person

On July 7, 1993, the decomposed remains of an unidentified white male, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old and approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with long dark brown or black hair, were discovered in a wooded area next to a creek in Fredericksburg, Virginia. A rope was found around his neck, with the other end tied to a nearby tree, though it remains unclear whether the rope contributed to his death. The medical examiner determined a postmortem interval of about two weeks, placing the time of death in late June 1993, with the body in advanced stages of decomposition. The decedent may have used the alias "Juan Marcelino Gomez" or "Juan Fuentes Marcelino." Numerous personal items were recovered at the scene, including a sleeveless green "Southern Classic" shirt, Britannia jeans, a black belt with a Confederate flag buckle labeled "Dixie Trucker," white "Fruit of the Loom" jockey shorts, a camo long-sleeved shirt/jacket, a white "Clemson" sweatshirt, an aqua T-shirt with a Gorilla Lager logo, blue cotton shorts, black pleated cotton slacks, a white long-sleeve dress shirt, a red bandana, black "Ozark Trail" hiking boots, a black canvas backpack, a baseball cap, sunglasses, an empty black trifold wallet, an Eagles cassette tape, fishing line with a leader and purple-red plastic worm with hooks, and various toiletries. The case remains unsolved, with the individual's true identity unknown.
