Case Details:Unidentified human remains were discovered in a wooded area near 1299 Courthouse Road in Stafford County, Virginia. The recovery took place on October 24, 1989, and the postmortem interval was estimated to be approximately seven months. The remains were skeletal at the time of discovery. The decedent is believed to be a White male between 33 and 61 years old. His estimated height ranged from 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 11 inches, but his weight, hair color, and eye color could not be determined. At the time of discovery, the individual was dressed in casual clothing. He wore a short-sleeve knit rugby-style shirt with horizontal stripes in tan, gray, and dark gray. No manufacturer label was present on the shirt. He also wore dark brown khaki-style pants with a 33-inch waist and 27.5-inch inseam, labeled “Perma Press” and made of 65 percent polyester and 35 percent cotton. Additional items included white Fruit of the Loom briefs, size medium (34–36), light brown or orange socks, and a brown belt with a yellow metal buckle. A single left running shoe, blue and white in color and size 8, was recovered and identified as Pro Champ brand. Personal effects found with the remains included a green plastic comb bearing the logo, “Munoz Studio, 2498 SW 8th St, Miami FL 642-2471.” Investigators also recovered a Compu Chrome digital watch with a plastic band, a handkerchief, and U.S. currency totaling sixteen cents. No form of identification was found with the body.
