Jeanette Maria Corpuz, a 27-year-old Hispanic female standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, was last seen on January 13, 2003, at her home in Reno, Nevada. A real estate agent met with her that day as she discussed plans to move amid an ongoing divorce. She was last heard from on January 21, 2003, during a phone conversation with her ex-husband, who is also the father of her child. Jeanette may use the last names Acord, Snyder or Montgomery.
Approximately three months before her disappearance, on October 26, 2002, her husband, Lyle Montgomery, was arrested and later charged with aggravated assault after a loaded weapon was fired at Corpuz, according to court records. On January 25, 2003, Corpuz’s three-year-old son was abandoned by his stepfather at a ShopKo store in Salt Lake City, Utah. The stepfather was arrested but later released on child endangerment charges.
A search of the Reno residence on January 29, 2003, uncovered a substantial amount of Jeanette’s blood in the bedroom, which had pooled through the flooring, along with several pieces of missing furniture. During a bail-reduction hearing in the first week of April 2003, a Reno detective testified that the suspect had been seeking someone to murder “Snyder”(Corpuz) and had assaulted her on the night she disappeared. On Tuesday, April 8, 2003, the suspect took his own life.
Jeanette Maria Corpuz remains missing and is presumed deceased. Her case is classified as a homicide.
