Case Type:Missing or Unidentified Person
Case Details:Irma Mkrtchyan, 45, was a successful insurance broker for Farmers Insurance in Las Vegas at the time of her disappearance. A highly educated woman with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, she was fluent in Armenian, Russian, and English. She was described as white, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 120–135 pounds, with blonde hair, hazel brown eyes, and pierced ears. Irma was last seen on January 19, 2014, during a scheduled appointment with a client at the Allanza Apartments. After that meeting, text messages sent from her phone told her boss she would miss work to attend her ex-husband’s aunt’s funeral in California. However, separate texts sent to family and loved ones claimed she was on a business trip. Those messages also stated that her vehicle had been left at the apartment complex with the keys placed in the gas tank cap. Multiple red flags quickly emerged. Irma left behind virtually all of her personal belongings, including her phone charger — an item she reportedly took with her everywhere. She had been living with her ex-husband at the time, who described their separation as amicable. However, witness statements reported prior incidents of physical abuse and at least one threat against her life. Irma has not been seen or heard from since January 19, 2014. Her case was transferred from the missing persons unit to the homicide division within one month. No arrests have been made. A $12,000 reward is available for information leading to her recovery or the resolution of the case.
