Case Type:Missing or Unidentified Person
Case Details:On November 7, 1998, at about 3:30 pm, two hunters discovered partial skeletal remains in a secluded wooded area off Telegraph Road in North Stafford, Stafford County, Virginia. The location was approximately 100 yards east of Telegraph Road and about half a mile from U.S. Route 1, hidden beneath a natural-appearing layer of fallen leaves. Forensic analysis determined that the decedent was a white female, estimated to be between 25 and 45 years old, standing 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, with medium-length light brown hair worn in braids. She had been deceased for roughly eight months prior to discovery and showed evidence of a previously healed rib fracture; a blue lighter found near the body suggested she may have been a smoker. Scattered at the scene were several distinctive personal items and articles of clothing, including a gray or white "Washington Redskins" T-shirt from the Salem Sportswear brand, black-and-white shorts featuring a camouflage or tiger-like pattern with cuffs, two pairs of dark hose (one plain and one with a diamond pattern, the latter tagged "L'eggs size B"), remnants of blue jeans labeled "Made in America," and size 8½ tan or cream canvas high-heeled shoes bearing the "Classified" label. Among the jewelry were a yellow leaf-shaped metal drop earring, a size 10 black/onyx ring emblazoned with a pentagram, and a size 7¼ gold-tone ring set with dark onyx cluster stones. Additional items recovered included a tiny pink plastic bear trinket, women's dark brown tortoise-shell sunglasses with oval lenses marked "China," a brown comb, and a small clear plastic bag decorated with green shamrocks. Investigative Genetic Genealogy is ongoing for her case.
