William Gurule, a 57‑year‑old outdoorsman, disappeared during a canoeing trip on the Colorado River in Las Vegas, Nevada after reportedly falling overboard near Pearce Ferry on November 10, 2010. Despite search efforts, he was never seen again and his body was never recovered. Local news outlets reported his presumed drowning, and a memorial service was held on November 26, 2010 at the Fourway Baptist Church in Fort Lupton, Colorado. At the time of his disappearance, Gurule was described as a white male with shoulder‑length brown hair, brown eyes, and a full brown beard. He had several distinctive physical features, including missing big toenails, early signs of hammertoe, a scar on his abdomen, and another scar on an unspecified part of his body.
