Hyo Jin Min, then 42, of Wheatland, Wyoming, was reported missing on October 14, 2023, by her ex-husband, Edward Min, who holds custody of their son. He became concerned when she failed to appear for a scheduled visit with the child, then could not reach her by text; two days later he asked the Wheatland Police Department to conduct a welfare check, and she was formally reported missing when officers could not locate her. Min, originally from South Korea, had lived in Wheatland for about a decade after marrying and later divorcing Edward Min; she worked mainly as a housekeeper at a local motel. Acquaintances described her as largely keeping to herself in the community. In the weeks before she was reported missing, she had reportedly lost her job and her housing, and a local church had reportedly given her money to travel to Colorado. She is described as having brown hair and brown eyes, standing approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing approximately 170 pounds.
The Wheatland Police Department is the lead agency; the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the Glendale (California) Police Department have assisted. License-plate camera records placed her white 2003 Oldsmobile Alero in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 14, 2023 — the day she was reported missing — and later in Glendale, California, where the plate was recorded on three occasions in a shopping-mall parking lot in late March and early April. Her cell phone last pinged in a different Glendale commercial district on November 20, 2023, and has not been in service since. Glendale police confirmed on May 2, 2024, that the vehicle appeared to have been abandoned at that location. Investigators have not been able to confirm Min herself was driving the vehicle in the recorded footage, and no record has been found of her passport being used to enter or exit the United States. As of the most recent public reporting, she has not been located and has had no confirmed contact with her son since her disappearance. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wheatland Police Department at 307-322-2141, the Wyoming DCI at 307-777-7181, or the Glendale Police Department at 818-550-4400.
