Agency:NCOUC - Group 1
Case Type:Fugitive From Justice
Case Details:Olalekan Abimbola Olawusi, a Nigerian national, was living in Providence, Rhode Island, when his 3-month-old son was discovered critically injured with multiple fractures and brain hemorrhaging at their residence on 49 Constitution Street in April 2017. The injuries, which showed signs of prolonged abuse, led to Olawusi’s arrest and initial charge of first-degree child abuse. Despite being charged, he was released the same day and subsequently fled the United States via JFK Airport using his Nigerian passport. Following the infant’s death in October 2017 after six months on life support, Olawusi was charged with first-degree murder. The U.S. Marshals Service added him to their 15 Most Wanted list and offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Olawusi is believed to have returned to Nigeria, where he receives support from family members, complicating efforts to apprehend him. The case remains active with law enforcement agencies seeking leads on his whereabouts.
