Fugitive From Justice

Robert Lee King has been wanted since 2006 by the Shelby County Sheriff's Department in Tennessee for the murder of his girlfriend and the attempted murder of her daughter. On December 1, 2005, King brutally murdered Dorothy Smith and attacked her 20-year-old daughter, who later identified King in a photo lineup as the assailant. King fled the area and remains at large, classified as armed and dangerous, with tattoos on both arms and no known aliases. The U.S. Marshals Service added King to their 15 Most Wanted list in 2023 to escalate efforts for his capture. Law enforcement officials have noted King’s ties to Memphis, Tennessee—the location of the initial crime—while later intelligence suggests probable movement into the Mobile and Prichard areas of Alabama. Despite these regional leads, no confirmed recent sightings or exact last-seen locations have been verified publicly as of late 2025. The U.S. Marshals continue to renew efforts and actively seek tips for his whereabouts, emphasizing caution due to his violent history and fugitive status.
