NCOUC - Group 3

Missing or Unidentified Person

On November 27, 2003, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office in Virginia responded to a report from hunters who believed they had discovered a deceased body in the 400 block of Fromans Lane in Winchester, Virginia. Deputies located the partial remains of an unidentified female approximately a quarter mile into the wooded area, consisting only of a torso, with the head, arms, and legs having been removed elsewhere in an apparent effort to hinder identification, classifying the case as a homicide. The victim is described as an Asian female, likely of Southeast Asian descent with minor Central Asian ancestry based on DNA phenotyping, estimated to be between 25 and 40 years old, standing 5 feet 1 inch to 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 120 to 145 pounds, and having black hair and black eyes. Notable physical features include a approximately three-inch vertical C-section scar on her abdomen and a quarter-inch hyperpigmented mole on the right side of her abdomen. No clothing, accessories, or personal items were recovered at the scene. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as homicide, though specifics remain undetermined, and DNA was extracted for future analysis. In 2019, investigators revisited the case using advanced forensic techniques, partnering with Parabon NanoLabs to generate a predictive composite sketch and detailed phenotype report from the DNA, which refined her likely appearance and ancestry to aid in potential identification. Despite these efforts and public appeals for leads, the woman remains unidentified as of early 2026.
