Missing or Unidentified Person
Kenneth Lee “Kenny” Veach, born in 1967, was a 47-year-old White male (5'8", 140 lbs, with brown hair and eyes) from Las Vegas, Nevada. An experienced solo desert hiker and YouTuber known online as snakebitmgee, he frequently explored remote caves, mines, and trails in the Nevada wilderness. On November 10, 2014, he was last seen at a movie theater in Las Vegas.
That same day, he called his ex-girlfriend to tell her he was heading out for a short overnight camping trip into the Sheep Range near Nellis Air Force Base to relocate a mysterious “M”-shaped cave he had discovered earlier. In a previous YouTube video, he had described the cave as causing intense, unexplained vibrations throughout his body that left him visibly disturbed.
Mr. Veach never returned from the trip. His white Honda CR-V was later located at a trailhead/recreation area north of Las Vegas. On November 22, 2014, search and rescue teams found his cell phone near the edge of a deep vertical abandoned mine shaft, approximately four hours’ hike from where his vehicle had been parked.
Despite multiple extensive ground searches and a helicopter flyover involving more than 30 volunteers, no further trace of Veach, his handgun, backpack, or other personal items was ever discovered. Notably, his video camera , which he almost always took on hikes , was found at his home, something his family described as highly out of character for him.
In the months leading up to his disappearance, Veach had been experiencing worsening depression and had not been taking any prescribed medications. His case is officially classified as a lost or injured hiker and he is presumed deceased.
