Missing or Unidentified Person

On Thursday, January 26, 1989, investigators discovered a human skull at the scenic "Lover's Leap" overlook in Patrick County, Virginia, amid an ongoing homicide investigation involving a 49-year-old man from Wytheville. The skull had been found the previous summer by two Patrick County men while they were searching for ginseng in the area. Forensic anthropological examination determined that the skull belonged to a middle-aged adult white male, estimated to be between 40 and 60 years old, with a postmortem interval of approximately two years, suggesting the individual died around 1987.
