Agency:NCOUC - Group 3
Case Type:Missing or Unidentified Person
Case Details:On October 22, 1992, the decomposed body of a newborn female infant was found in a ravine near Hilton Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia. The child, later referred to as Newport News Jane Doe, was determined to be a full-term Black infant, approximately 1 foot 8 inches long and weighing about 6 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, and had been wrapped in a towel at the scene. The postmortem interval suggested she had been deceased for several days prior to discovery, and the manner of death was classified as a homicide by exposure. Despite investigative efforts over the years, her identity and the circumstances surrounding her death remain unresolved.
