Case Type:Missing or Unidentified Person
Case Details:On June 8, 2003, at approximately 6:10 a.m., groundskeepers from the maintenance department at Mount Vernon Country Club in Alexandria (Fairfax County, Virginia) discovered the remains of a full-term newborn baby boy floating in a manmade pond on the front nine of the private golf course. The infant was contained within a Shoppers plastic bag and wrapped in a light-colored Fruit of the Loom "Easy to Wear" t-shirt. According to the Medical Examiner, the baby measured about 1 foot 6 inches in length, weighed approximately 3 pounds, and had a postmortem interval (PMI) of several days, indicating he had been deceased for some time before discovery. Some reports from the time estimated the infant to be around 4 days old at death and noted the body was found at the edge of the pond. DNA profiling was conducted in 2003 to confirm the sex as male. The remains were cremated later that same year, and the death remains unsolved.
