Case Details
NCOUC - Group 3
Missing or Unidentified Person
Patricia Margaret Phillips, 29 (some sources say 30), last had contact with her sister in early February 1979 while in Buffalo, Johnson County, Wyoming, reportedly driving a blue Ford. Neither Phillips nor the vehicle has ever been located. She is described as a white female, approximately 5'5", 150 pounds, with blue eyes and naturally curly blonde/strawberry-blonde hair (worn short at the time), and wore thick eyeglasses. She was hard of hearing and had been diagnosed with a mental illness (specific diagnosis not documented in sources reviewed). She may have used the name "Patricia Margaret Lawrence."
Very few circumstantial details about her disappearance have been publicly documented — no last-seen location more specific than Buffalo, no witness account, and no indication of foul play or voluntary departure is described in any source reviewed. The case is investigated by the Buffalo Police Department (NamUs #MP14857; Doe Network #3354DFWY; agency case #9400723) with the assistance of the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. DNA reference samples are available for comparison should remains ever be recovered. The case remains open and unsolved. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Buffalo Police Department at 307-684-5581 or the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation at 307-777-7181.
