Tyler Blake Weathersby, 31, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was last seen on the morning of September 4, 2024. Weathersby left his home in western Sioux Falls around 7:15–7:45 a.m. for a walk, a routine he followed several times daily. Surveillance footage placed him near the intersection of West Madison Street and North Marion Road, close to Interstate 29, at approximately 7:50 a.m., walking east; the footage showed him speaking briefly with a boy on a bicycle and approaching the driver of a silver Hyundai Santa Fe stopped in the street. He did not return home. His wife, Monalisa Perez, reported him missing to the Sioux Falls Police Department that afternoon after searching the neighborhood on her own. Weathersby left his cell phone, wallet (including ID and credit/debit cards), and passport at his residence. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts, a tan beanie, and dark-colored athletic shoes. He is described as a Black male, approximately 6'0" tall and 155 pounds, with a shaved head and brown eyes at the time of disappearance.
The Sioux Falls Police Department is the lead investigating agency; the case has also received review from other agencies at the local and federal level. Investigators have conducted neighborhood canvasses, drone searches of areas where Weathersby was last seen on camera or reported by witnesses, and have stated they have found no evidence of foul play. Family members have separately retained private investigators, whose released surveillance footage has been the only new public information since the initial report. As of the one-year mark in September 2025, police stated there was no new information but that the investigation remains open and active.
