Missing or Unidentified Person

On February 1, 1991, the partial skeletal remains of an unidentified White/Caucasian male were discovered in a wooded area near the off-ramp from South Independence Boulevard onto Interstate 264 in Virginia Beach, Virginia Beach City County, Virginia. The decedent, estimated to be 45-60 years old (though some sources describe him as a "young" male without specifying an age range), approximately 5 foot 5 inches tall, with brown hair (noted as brown and gray in body hair descriptions), was found nude, headless, and without hands, indicating possible intentional dismemberment to hinder identification. No clothing, accessories, personal items, scars, tattoos, or distinctive features were noted, and the condition of the remains precluded the collection of fingerprints, dental records, or a full DNA profile. An autopsy revealed a bullet or bullet fragment in the body, confirming homicide by gunshot wound, with the estimated postmortem interval ranging from weeks to months prior to discovery, though some reports specify four to eight months. Forensic reconstructions/images have not been completed at this time.
