NCOUC - Group 3

Missing or Unidentified Person

On December 26, 2005, hunters discovered partial skeletal remains in a wooded area of Blairs, Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Forensic anthropological analysis determined the individual was a male under the age of 40, likely between 25 and 35 years old, with an estimated height ranging from approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 11 inches. Ancestry was assessed as possibly White, Hispanic, and/or Asian. The condition of the remains and associated clothing indicated prolonged exposure to the elements, with a postmortem interval estimated at approximately three years, within a broader range of one to five years. Recovered items included remnants of a dark-colored (possibly green) shirt, fragments of Levi’s blue jeans with Levi Strauss–branded buttons, a brown leather belt, white silk underwear with a black waistband bearing a Hanes emblem, thermal undergarments, white sweat socks, and brown work boots.
